Job Position: ASSISTANT MANAGER, GRANTS
Job Description
The Grants Assistant position provides grants and financial management support for the Health, Equity and Rights (HER) team. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring effective and timely administration of grants, contracts and sub agreements through the award life cycle; developing an understanding of donor requirements and expectations for agreements; ensuring compliance; and coordination with country offices, program staff, and others throughout CARE and with partner organizations as appropriate.
The Grants Assistant is responsible for the initial preparation/review, negotiation, due diligence, monitoring and modification of agreements and contracts as well as the submission of regular donor reports. In addition, the incumbent is charged with any necessary close-out of grants.
The GA is responsible for monitoring financial reports and expenditures of country offices and HQ , and identifies trends associated with over/under expenditure, making recommendations to resolve these, and work with country teams to achieve acceptable burn rates and provide timely reports. Responsibilities may also include managing consultant contracts, procurement processes and tracking vendor invoices and facilitating payment.
The successful candidate will be part of the Health, Equity and Rights(HER) team and will be regularly tasked to assist the Director of Business Operations and Finances as well as other Grants and Finance Managers and HER Team Project Leads with regard to routine grants management services in order to achieve the overall HER Strategy and team objectives and deadlines.
The incumbent also works with the HER team Sr Director, Technical Advisors and others in the unit collaboratively. The Grants Assistant will work as needed with other functional units within CARE, including foundations, PSI, AMS, Finance, Shared services center, administrative services, procurement, and human resources.
